Massachusetts Divorce Attorney Discusses Letting Your Lawyer Handle the Mediation

I was recently asked as a Massachusetts Divorce Attorney if it was a good idea to let your attorney handle your mediation.  In Massachusetts, typically a lawyer does not attend the mediation. I tell clients as a Massachusetts Divorce Attorney that when participating in the mediation, you should have the documents prepared during the mediation reviewed by another lawyer because a mediator cannot give legal advice. There may be questions concerning certain provisions in the agreement that you would like to talk to a lawyer about and we strongly encourage and urge you to do that.
