Health Care Proxy

• A Health Care Proxy will name a health care agent, who will have a right to make decisions that you are incapable of doing
• An example of this includes being admitted to the hospital because of unconsciousness
• It is preferred to have a Health Care Proxy because the burden of making a medical decision is not on the health care provider
• You must be able to trust your health care proxy, and you should also discuss your wishes with this person
