Guardian Ad Litem
- These individuals are appointed in cases where there are custody issues
- This can the primary caregiver of the child, the parenting plan, or the person who will make health care decisions
- On behalf of the court, this person can investigate, talk to anyone that knows the child and their parents, then make a recommendation to the court as to how the case should be decided
- The judge does not have to follow what the Guardian Ad Litem says, but will typically trust their hard work
