Alimony
- Up until mid 2012, alimony was generally a lifetime payment
- The new alimony law is that it sets term limits on the time limit for how long alimony is payable, depending on how long the party has been married
- They will take the number of months you have been married; Percentages vary from 60 percent, and go up from there
- After 20 years of marriage, it can be an indefinite term of payment
- The judge will look at the party’s ability to pay the alimony, and the needs of the recipient party
