How to Stay Safe and Protect Yourself From the New Coronavirus

Many of us are worried about the spread of the new coronavirus. Fortunately, there are several things we can do to help ensure we stay safe from the virus, as well as that we do not spread the virus ourselves. Please continue reading to learn more about the virus and some of the most important preparations you can take.

  • Wash your hands multiple times throughout the day, and ensure you do so with warm and soapy water. Additionally, hand sanitizer is also a great way to kill viral germs if you can get some.
  • One of the most important things you can do is to practice what is known as “social distancing, which involves staying at least three feet away from all those who you come in contact with. In fact, many people are simply choosing to stay inside and avoid social contact altogether.
  • If you have to cough or sneeze, especially if you are in public, ensure you do so into your elbow, instead of out into the open air. The virus spreads via droplets, so be very careful about how you cough or sneeze. Additionally, since the virus does spread through droplets, it is best you refrain from touching your mouth, eyes or nose, because if you’ve been exposed to the virus, it can enter your body that way.
  • Symptoms of COVID-19 include a dry cough, runny nose, pneumonia, fever, and sore throat. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, ensure you speak with local health authorities as soon as you can. Do not simply go to the doctor’s office. You may unknowingly spread the virus to others.

Though these are uncertain times, the Law Offices of Cynthia L. Hanley would like to remind everyone that we are all resilient, and as long as we remain calm, we will get through this together.
