How an Inheritance is Treated During a Divorce

• The court has the right to divide an inheritance 50/50, or by any other desired split ratio
• If an inheritance is fairly traceable to the person that received it, the court would not divide it 50/50
• If the inheritance is spent on a home edition or repair, it will probably be treated as a marital asset
