Can I Write My Own Visitation Order to See My Children?

In Massachusetts, any parenting schedule has to be approved by the court to be binding. We ask each party what they want the parenting schedule to be. When people come to mediation they sometimes have actually agreed on a parenting schedule and have already put it into place and know that it’s working for them. Or they might have agreed upon a regular schedule but are having a hard time dealing with the holidays and vacations. In this case, we would just focus on those issues. Sometimes they’re still living together and haven’t even thought about a parenting schedule.  I advise clients as a Bristol County Child Custody Lawyer that one thing to keep in mind is that both parents are entitled to have a parenting schedule with their children, and you need to keep in mind the other person’s work schedule.

If you are looking to write your own visitation order during mediation, contact an experienced Child Custody Lawyer in Massachusetts.
