At our offices, we represent men and women at all stages of a divorce, from the initial filing through mediation, trial and post-judgment requests for modification. We handle contested and uncontested divorce proceedings, as well as joint petitions for divorce.
In contested divorce proceedings, we handle:
In an uncontested divorce, we gather all the necessary information, including a certified copy of your marriage certificate, parenting certificates, financial statements and the filing fee. We then prepare and file a joint petition for divorce, accompanied by affidavits disclosing care of custody proceedings and affidavits containing evidence to support the breakdown of the marriage. We also file the separation agreement, the child support worksheet and the request for an uncontested hearing.
We file and argue complaints seeking modification of existing support, custody, visitation, alimony and medical insurance orders. A modification is a change to an existing court order. For example, a client, under appropriate circumstances may seek to decrease or increase a child support or alimony order, change the custody or visitation arrangements or eliminate the obligation to provide medical insurance.
Both of our attorneys are certified as mediators and can help you avoid the time and expense of protracted litigation through mediation. In mediation, a third-party neutral helps you work with the other party to develop and implement solutions that are in the best interests of everyone involved.
